Big Walk Characters: Your Walker & Customization Guide
Last verified: September 2, 2026
At first glance, a Big Walk character looks like a toy held together by gravity: three stacked, colorful round body segments, googly eyes, a long nose, and thin arms and legs. The goofy, noodle-like silhouette is easy to read from across the island — and even funnier when a whole group starts moving together.
Official materials reviewed show unnamed walkers sharing the same basic three-part shape. They do not document a named character roster, classes or individual stats. Different color combinations and wearable items make individual walkers visually distinct.
Who You Play As
Official visuals show players as colorful, unnamed walkers sharing the same basic body design. Color combinations and carried objects create visible differences, while group roles come from what each player chooses to do.
The stripped-back design is practical as well as funny. Three round body sections create a recognizable silhouette, and contrasting colors help friends stand out at a distance. Their thin arms also make simple gestures such as pointing and waving clear in a group.

The walkers share one simple silhouette, while their color combinations keep the group readable.
Character Abilities
The walker moveset is small, but every move matters:
- Walk, run, jump, crouch — the basics, all smooth and floaty. The walk itself is the game's central verb; the developers made sure it feels good for hours at a time.
- Sit down (legs crossed) — an emote that is, in practice, the game's punctuation mark. Sitting at a viewpoint with your friends is a legitimate activity, and the game is better for it.
- Pick up, carry and throw — you can carry objects, collectibles, tools… and other players. One walker can haul a friend up a cliff; two can lift someone together.
- Stack — crouch and let friends climb onto your shoulders. Two- and three-tall towers are the standard solution to "button too high".
- Dropkick and general chaos — you can kick things, steal balls and knock friends over. The game embraces goofing off; some of its best moments are pure playground anarchy.
- Gestures and body language — point, wave and gesture when talking is not an option. Proximity voice chat supports nearby conversation, while movement provides a visible alternative.
Practice the three moves that solve the most puzzles before you leave the tutorial: carrying, stacking and sitting. If your group can build a two-player tower and carry each other up a cliff, half the island's puzzles are already solved.

Customization
Big Walk character customization can happen in the world. A paint area includes a wall palette, painting tools and a mirror, letting players change and check color combinations together.
- Paint each other. Choose a color from the wall palette, then use the painting tools on another walker's body sections. The nearby mirror lets the group view the finished combination.
- Use color for identification. Contrasting head, middle and lower-body colors make friends easier to recognize across the island. That matters when the group splits up or several walkers crowd around the same puzzle.
- Wearable items. The screenshot above shows a walker wearing a backpack and hip radio. The "Big Help" achievement specifically asks a player to wear something on their hip.
- Get shiny. The "Big Makeover" achievement asks players to "get shiny," confirming that a shiny finish is available through an in-world makeover.
- Color Alternatives. For accessibility, the game includes color-alternative options so players with color blindness can still tell characters and elements apart.
Group Dynamics
Big Walk's cooperative challenges create informal group roles that can change from one task to the next:
- The scout — the player who volunteers to trek across the island with a walkie-talkie half while everyone else stays at the machine.
- The map carrier — someone has to hold the paper map, and someone else has to take their backpack off when they need to read it.
- The caller — the player who describes symbol patterns and coordinates button releases. Often the group's best describer, not its best walker.
- The goofball — every group has one, and Big Walk is one of the few games where the goofball's antics are a feature. Knocking a friend into the ocean is canonically funny.
