Achievement Guide
Big Walk — Cross the drawbridge (85.7%)
Your first achievement and essentially the game's opening milestone. Solve the four starting puzzles — the Blue Room pegboard, the Green Structure switches, the Mechanical Arm and the Cave & Telescope puzzle — collect the four gourds, cut the key at the five key cutters, and get your group across the drawbridge. It's near-universal (85.7% of players have it), which makes it the best "did I miss the tutorial?" sanity check in the whole list.
Big View — Visit the map (56.3%)
The map room is one of the island's major rewards, unlocked after the Red Tower's five challenges. It holds a giant 3D map of the island that your group can use to plot routes — and a paper map with coordinates that solves the number puzzles. Nearly half of players have reached it.
Big Pack — Wear a backpack (47.6%)
Backpacks are your storage system — they add physical carry space for nearly any item, while the smaller waist bags hold only smaller things. Both are found in circular blue buildings around the island (10 buildings, one bag each; the southernmost has both). Wear one for the first time and the achievement is yours — and remember, equipping or unequipping a bag needs a friend's help.
Big Sit — Ride the chairlift (31.6%)
The chairlift is the Green Tower's reward: solve the tower's five puzzles, cut its key, and insert it at the station beside the tower to start the lifts. It's also one of the fastest ways across the island — a scenic ride between elevations that links the Green Tower region toward the Blue, Yellow and Black Tower areas. About three in ten players have switched it on.
Big Help — Wear something on your hip (24.4%)
Several tools — flashlights, flares and similar — can be worn on your hip instead of carried. Equip something hip-mounted for the first time to unlock this. It's also a practical tip: hip-slot items free up your hands for carrying gourds and keys.
Big Ride — Ride the train (24.3%)
A railway curves through the island, and boarding a train earns this one. The activation chain is confirmed: solve five puzzles around the Blue Tower (3540, 1850) to collect five gourd-shaped prizes, place them in the five roof slots to reveal the key, cut it at the five key cutters (each arrow points to the next), then insert the finished key at the main train station (3380, 1740, northwest of the Blue Tower). The three trains start looping the island in a single direction and don't stop at stations — the achievement only counts if you board while a train is moving.
Big Climb — Reach the highest point (18.9%)
The island's summit. This one's a genuine expedition — reaching the highest point on the island takes route-finding, some climbing puzzles and a group willing to commit to the vertical. The view is the real reward; the achievement is just proof you made it.
Big Tunnel — Enter a big tunnel (16.5%)
The Yellow Tower's reward is a tunnel: complete the tower's five puzzles, cut its key, and insert it at the entrance southeast of the tower (map coordinates 3500, 1620). Past it wait a secret area and the final radio channel. Roughly one player in six has been through it.
Big Wall — Go beyond the wall (8.2%)
The wall is one of the island's great mysteries — a massive barrier deep in the game's progression that players spent the launch week staring at. Going beyond it is a major story gate; only about one player in twelve has made it. Expect this one to sit at the end of a long puzzle chain rather than behind a single trick.
Big Makeover — Get shiny (3.1%)
The secret to getting shiny is a second paint shop hidden on the island: finish the Yellow Tower (bring five gourd-shaped MacGuffins up and craft the tunnel key), then from the red circular room near spawn (the gym) take the gap beside the map room → the shortcut door → follow the left cliff path for 30–60 seconds → the red tunnel entrance → upstairs → through a colorful corridor toward the Green Tower → up the Blue Tower ramp → near the small grey door sits the hidden second paint shop. Use the special color scheme there — a choice of bronze, silver or gold — and your character turns shiny. Note: the paint shop is reportedly not available to Switch players.
Hidden Achievements
Two achievements are hidden on Steam, meaning their names appear in your list but their descriptions are locked until you unlock them. Both are tied to the game's endings — spoilers below, kept as factual as possible:
- Big Goodbye (7.6%) — hidden, story-linked. Unlocked by reaching the first ending: complete all four colored towers (Red, Green, Blue and Yellow), unlock the Black Tower, collect the required puzzle rewards, use the key to open the wall, and clear the puzzles at the black sphere in the distance. Full chain in the Endings section.
- Big Game (1.4%) — hidden, story-linked. The rarest achievement in the game, unlocked by the true ending: after the credits, complete all seven purple gourds puzzles plus any puzzles you skipped, collect the final rewards and the final key, then enter the secret room near the spawn area (between the broken black sphere on the wall). 100% completion requires exactly this.
Both hidden achievements are tied to story moments the developers want players to discover themselves — the conditions above are confirmed across multiple guides, but if you'd rather find the endings unspoiled, stop reading here.
Rarity Explained
The unlock rates tell a clear story about Big Walk's shape. The first three achievements (drawbridge, map, backpack) are the game's onboarding arc — nearly half of all players get that far. Then the rate steps down through the travel milestones — chairlift at 31.6%, hip items at 24.4%, train at 24.3%, summit at 18.9% — before falling off a cliff for deep-island content: the tunnel at 16.5%, the wall at 8.2%, and the story achievements around 7% (the first-ending achievement at 7.6%, the true-ending one at 1.4%). The game launched on August 4, 2026, so these numbers will keep shifting as more players walk the island — but the shape will stay: most players stop somewhere among the towers, and the deep island is genuinely rare territory.
Unlock Tips
- Play the same session across multiple nights. The host's save persists, so a regular group steadily climbs the rarity ladder — the map room, the chairlift and the tunnel are all "keep walking" achievements. Set a tower goal per session: Red Tower opens the map, Green Tower opens the chairlift, Yellow Tower opens the tunnel.
- Explore vertically. Big Climb and Big View reward groups that head for high ground early. The telescope and map room are the island's two "look from above" tools — use them.
- Check every hip and shoulder. Big Help and Big Pack are about gear slots. Try wearing every item type you find at least once.
- Expect the rarest ones to take sessions, not hours. Big Wall, Big Goodbye and Big Game sit deep in the island's story progression. Don't rush the ending to reach them — the walk is the point.
